NIPT Test
Non-Invasive Prenatal Test is a simple blood test where maternal blood can be tested for fetal chromosomal aneuploidy by testing cell-free DNA from the fetus in the maternal blood.
Why NIPT is recommended
Non-Invasive Prenatal Test (NIPT) is the latest genetic prenatal screening test that can predict, with high accuracy, the possibility of chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus like Down Syndrome, Turner Syndrome, etc. It is a non-invasive procedure and does not cause any harm to the baby. Sample can be collected after the 9th week of pregnancy when fetal DNA starts circulating in the mother’s blood. It detects chromosomal aneuploidy in the baby and has an accuracy of 99 %.
