Our Whole Body FDG PET-CT Scan is a reliable diagnostic imaging test that helps doctors evaluate various health conditions. This scan combines two imaging techniques PET (Positron Emission Tomography) and CT (Computed Tomography) to give a detailed view of your body’s metabolic activity and internal structures.
What Can This Scan Detect?
Cancer Evaluation - Helps in detecting tumors, checking their spread (staging), and assessing how well treatment is working.
Heart Conditions - Evaluates blood flow and heart muscle function in patients with suspected heart disease.
Brain Disorders - Assists in diagnosing conditions like epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease and other neurological issues.
Infections & Unexplained Fever - Locates hidden infections or inflammation, especially in cases of Pyrexia of Unknown Origin (PUO).
How Is the Scan Done?
Before the scan, a small amount of a safe radioactive glucose tracer (18F-FDG) is injected into your vein. Since active cells (like cancer or infection sites) absorb more glucose, the PET scanner detects these areas. The CT scan provides clear images of your body’s structure, helping doctors correlate the findings accurately.
